About
Njord, from Norse Mythology was the Norse god of the sea and wind, it was said his powers included the ability to calm the sea and quell fires. Living on the North coast of Scotland with island blood in my veins and heritage going back to the Vikings might help explain my love of the sea. Trying to capture that power and beauty through photography with the camera helps complete the circle. Longer shutter times have the ability to flatten the sea while faster times help capture it's power, though I don't think it can quell fires. The page names in general are from the 9 Worlds in Norse mythology and are illustrated with photos I relate to the world. Jotomheim for example is the world of the Jotum who are the giants in Norse mythology, relating to the sea I see our seastacks as giants.
